Belkyra™ is an injectable drug that has deoxycholic acid, a chemical substance that can be found naturally in the human body. It’s the first product that has been FDA and Health Canada approved for the treatment of submental fullness caused by bulging fat (also known as subcutaneous fat). Deoxycholic acid destroys fat cells by disrupting their membranes allowing your body to metabolize the fat. The fat that has been destroyed never returns, which means you’ll enjoy permanent results from your treatments.
Procedure
It is a simple treatment that takes under an hour and doesn’t involve any incisions or stitches. A topical numbing cream is applied, after which, you’ll receive multiple injections into the area under your chin, where the excess fat forms. The injections are pre-marked and strategically placed to ensure accuracy. The number of injections during a single session can vary from 20 to 50, all in the underside of the chin. Full results take effect in approximately 2-3 months time.
